Spotted Redshank, Emsworth, January 2013

Although this bird has been present for the past 9 odd years I had never actually made the effort to go see it. Then one day I was passing through emsworth an decided to drop in at Nore Barn! Soon as I parked up I found the bird working the little creek that it favours and when I got within 10 ft of the bird and it wasn't bothered in the slightest I knew I had to come back, with a camera this time as I forgot it!
The next available chance saw me heading down there again and this time there was no
Sign of the bird for around two hours so I left. The area is really vast with lots of little creeks that cannot be viewed so it was no suprise I didn't see it however then I found out its favoured time in the creek is which is a couple of hours either side of high tide as the creek is the first and last place to have mud available!
Therefore I went back the next day just before high tide and sure enough the bird was present showing extremely well despite the amount of dog walkers, even the dogs don't really scare it he rarely flys he just runs into the water and waits. Some of my images are below and I'm sure to try and improve them soon...........
